Choosing A Magnetic Bracelet

We live in a resort area and are surrounded by many lakes. The lakes draw many visitors throughout the year. People come to rent cabins and also many people have their second home in our area. In the summer months there is fishing, boating, water sports and swimming. In the winter months there is snowmobiling, ice fishing and cross country skiing. As with many resort areas we have many gift and souvenir shops as well as arts and crafts festivals held throughout the year. When family members come to visit we usually make a trip through the shops to find gifts as well as special items for the home.

Last year my sister and two nieces came up to visit. At one shop we went into my niece showed me a magnet bracelet. She said that she and her sister and mom had all bought a similar magnet bracelet at a craft sale. As she was saying this my sister and my other niece showed me theirs. My sister had hers on the same wrist that she had her watch on. I stated that I was surprised the magnetic jewelry did not interfere with her watch. My two nieces asked why I thought that it would and I told them that I had always heard to keep magnets away from your watches because they can interfere with the workings of the watch. Both of my nieces said that they have replaced the batteries on their watches twice since they have had the magnet bracelet. The shop owner was listening to our conversation and told them that they should not wear the magnetic jewelry on the same wrist as their watches. He also stated that the vendor that sold them the magnet bracelet should have warned them not to wear the two together.

The magnet bracelet that they bought had colored glass beads along with magnets strung together in a chain. The chain was wrapped around the wrist and the various magnets held it in place. There are also magnetic bracelets that have two round magnets at the ends of a braided copper, gold, or silver wire. These bracelets are designed to help eliminate arthritis pain. Some feature an ionized battery that recharges the bracelet every 30 days. Many people claim that they experience pain relieve while wearing the jewelry. My sister and nieces had bought their bracelets as a remembrance of the day they spent together and because they were so easy to put on and take off. They are now aware that it is important not to wear them on the same wrist as their watch.
